About the Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai
Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLU Mumbai) is a National Law University at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is a National Law University established in India by The Maharashtra National Law University Act 2014, passed by Maharashtra Legislature under the Maharashtra Act No VI of 2014. MNLU Mumbai offers a five-year integrated B.A LL.B.(Hons.) course. Admissions are taken through the Common Law Admission Test.
About the Moot Court Competition
Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai in association with All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (Western Zone), & Income-tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association – Mumbai brings to you the 14th edition of the Padma Vibhushan N.A. Palkhivala Memorial National Moot Court (Virtual) Competition, 2024 as well as the Padma Vibhushan N.A. Memorial National Research Paper Competition, 2024. The moot revolves around taxation law and seeks to inculcate interest in Tax law practice in the minds of students.
Eligibility
- All bona fide students enrolled in an undergraduate of Law i.e., 3 years/5 years from any college or university shall be eligible for participation in the competition
- Each College/University/Institution shall be allowed to register upto two teams in the competition.
- Mixed Teams formed with bona fide students enrolled in an undergraduate of Law i.e., 3 years/5 years from any college or university shall be eligible for participation in the competition

Moot Court Competition:
- Winner – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs. 40,000 /-
- Runner-Up – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs. 30,000 /-
- Second Runner-Up – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs. 20,000/-
- Best Speaker – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs.10,000/-
- Best Researcher – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs.10,000/-
- Best Memorial (Petitioner) – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs.10,000/-
- Best Memorial (Respondent) – Trophy + Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs.10,000/-
Research Paper Competition:
- Winner – Certificate of Merit +Trophy + Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/-
- Runner-Up – Certificate of Merit +Trophy + Cash Prize of Rs. 7,500/-
- Second Runner-Up – Certificate of Merit +Trophy + Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000/-

- Release of Proposition & Registrations Open: 26th August, 2024
- Registration Deadline: 20th September, 2024
- Submission of Memorials: 2nd October, 2024
- Clarification Request Deadline: 15th September, 2024
- Final Clarifications Release: 20th September, 2024
- Oral Rounds: 17th – 20th October, 2024
Registration Fees
The Registration Fee for the teams will be Rs. 2,500/- for the oral rounds. The registration fee will be non-refundable and paid by all teams, irrespective of their participation in the Oral Rounds. Kindly note that there are no registration fees for participating in the Research Paper Competition.

Registration Process
Moot Court Competition
The teams are required to duly complete the registration process by 15th September 2024 (11:59 P.M.) by filling out the Google Form. Participants will not be permitted to make changes in the team composition after completion of the registration except in case of any medical exigencies.
