About National Law University, Delhi
National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) is one of the National Law Universities in India, situated in Sector-14, Dwarka, Delhi. It offers courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. NLUD is built on the five-year law degree model proposed and implemented by the Bar Council of India. Ranked 2 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework, NLUD is considered amongst the most prestigious law universities in the country.
The Centre for Law & Urban Development at National Law University, Delhi, aims to bring together students, industries and academia working towards enhancing the understanding and teaching of property, housing, urban development and other related laws. In doing so, the Centre has undertaken a variety of projects and activities, such as the SDG Series, Research Projects and Publications on relevant topics of prime importance and awareness drives through proactive public initiatives and webinars, amongst a multitude of other projects.
About the Seminar
The objective of this seminar is to address the legal and policy challenges in implementing affordable housing for all. The seminar will begin with examining the jurisprudence of ‘property’ to build a normative framework for the seminar, followed by a detailed discussion of the constitutional history of property rights in the Indian context, furthering into a discussion on the analysis of Property rights in India.
Thereafter, the challenges faced by the Real Estate Industry will be discussed in extensive detail. Issues of land sufficiency, subsidized housing, and middle-class budgeting will be delved into. The seminar will then discuss Ease in Compliances that enable the idea of “housing for all” to flourish. Specifically, banking rules and regulations affecting Affordable Housing will be discussed. Finally, the dispute-resolution mechanisms for handling complex real estate-related disputes will be delved into, as there are multiple ways to resolve such disputes.
About the Call for Papers
The objectives of this National Seminar are to understand the policy and other aspects including the structural and functional dynamics of affordable housing. Accordingly, the outcome of the Seminar would facilitate the organizers, participants and other stakeholders to make legislative and policy interventions to bring about positive social and legal transformation.

Submission Guidelines
The authors/presenters are expected to apply their research skills and use appropriate research methodology. The research paper should be thematic. Following are the guidelines to be followed:
- It should not be more than 4000 words (3000– 4000 words is appreciable).
- The paper must be typed in Times New Roman Font Size 12 on A4 size paper with a 1” margin on all sides with 1.5 line spacing, using the Microsoft Word application.
- Footnotes should follow the latest edition of Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
- At the top of the abstract and paper, the Author should give the Name, E-mail ID, contact number and Name of the Institution.
- Co-authorship is allowed with a maximum of two authors.
Registration Fees
For the following categories of authors/presenters, the main author, co-author and participants will have to pay the following fees respectively:
- Professional/Academician – Rs. 2500, 1500, 1000.
- Researcher/Student – Rs. 1500, 1000, 500.
- International Delegate – -, $50, -.
Important Dates

- Abstract Submission – 21 November, 2024.
- Approved Abstract Notification – 10 December, 2024.
- Submission of Complete Papers – 31 December, 2024.
- Notification of Approved Papers – 15 January, 2025.
- Presentation at the Seminar – 21-23 February, 2025.
