About the Magazine Committee of Government Law College, Mumbai
The Magazine Committee of Government Law College, Mumbai curates the annual magazine of the college titled méLAWnge, it is not just an annual publication, but a part of aeonian history.
The first edition of the college magazine was published in 1930, covering discussions on civil marriage law and the art of advocacy. Throughout its rich history spanning 94 years, the GLC Magazine has stood as a constant, amid the evolving tapestry of India’s legal landscape.
The magazine has meticulously documented the metamorphosis of legal discourse and serves as a chronicle of our collective journey in the legal sphere, capturing the past, present, and future of legal thoughts and practices in India.
Through “méLAWnge”, we want to capture the voice of our diverse student body as well as promulgate the ideas and insights of illustrious alumni and renowned legal experts. It is for this reason that students, professors, lawyers and judges have come together, once again, to breathe life into this edition.
About the Dinesh Vyas Public Charitable Trust
The Dinesh Vyas Public Charitable Trust, since its formation on December 16, 2020 has efficaciously promoted the cause of education in diverse fields. In its endeavor to provide a stimulus to education in India, the Trust aims to sponsor various societies and competitions, award fellowships and scholarships, promote e-learning and vocational learning and provide appropriate infrastructure for several facilities to encourage quality education in India.
About the Competiton
The Magazine Committee of Government Law College, Mumbai presents the 22nd Dinesh Vyas Memorial Government Law College, National Legal Essay Competition. Writing is a proclivity that a lawyer must never detach from himself, and thus, each year, the Magazine Committee of Government Law College, Mumbai, organises a national-level legal essay writing competition, the ‘Dinesh Vyas Memorial Government Law College National Legal Essay Competition’. The Dinesh Vyas Memorial Government Law College National Legal Essay Competition is sponsored in the memory of Late Mr Dinesh Vyas, one of GLC’s most distinguished alumni, who obtained his LLB degree from Government Law College in 1967.
The Topics for this year’s edition are:

Eligibility
Open to students across all years pursuing their 5-year integrated law course/3-year LL.B. course/LL.M. from any recognised university in India and equivalent law degree, abroad for the academic year of 2023-2024, are eligible to participate in the competition.

- Second Prize: Rs. 15,000/-
- Third Prize: Rs. 10,000/-
- Consolation Prize: Rs. 7,500/-
