About the Event
Several major developments have taken place in India to center stage the need for combating climate change-related adversities. Mountains cover about 27% of the Earth’s land surface and host about half of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. They provide essential ecosystems, including water resources. However, mountain regions are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts, threatening both ecosystems and communities.
As climate change accelerates, there is an urgent need to raise awareness about these issues, especially among youth who will inherit these challenges. International Mountain Day, observed annually on December 11th, provides an ideal platform to focus attention on these critical matters.
Recognizing the importance of climate change and its impact in various aspects and as one of the activities under the Jean Monnet Chair (EUC-LAMP) Project SIU, the JM Chair is organizing a Social Media Campaign through a Making Competition on the Occasion of International Mountain Day on 11th December 2024.

Submission Guidelines
- Entries must be submitted online through the provided Google Form.
- Poster size: Half imperial (22 inches x 15 inches)
- Format: JPG or PNG, along with a short video clip (1-2 minutes) of you creating the poster
- Language: English only
- One entry per person
- Original entries only; plagiarism will lead to disqualification

The Campaign Unfolds as Follows:
- Announcement of the Poster making Competition and campaign, including themes
- Release of competition guidelines
- Participants submit entries via Google Form
- Announcement of winners
- Virtual exhibition of top entries
Participants are encouraged to use creative mediums such as digital posters, infographics, etc. to address the themes. All entries must be shared on social media with the campaign #Savethemountains.
