About the National Seminar

The Into Legal World Institute is proud to host a National Seminar titled “New Criminal Laws for a New Era: Need, Focus, and Long-Term Vision” This event aims to bring together legal professionals, academicians, policymakers, and students for an engaging discussion on India’s evolving criminal law landscape. The seminar will serve as a platform to examine the transformative impact of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (Code of Criminal Procedure), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (Indian Evidence Act), offering critical insights into their need, objectives, and long-term implications.

About Call for Papers

Into Legal World Institute invites submissions of abstracts from legal scholars, practitioners, researchers, and students on the themes. Share your insights, research findings, and perspectives to enrich the academic discourse on evolving criminal laws in India.

Participants are also encouraged to adopt interdisciplinary approaches or propose papers on other relevant topics within the scope of the main theme.

Event Structure

Day 1:  Panel Discussions: Eminent speakers will discuss the seminar themes in depth.

Day 2:  Paper Presentations: Selected participants will present their research before a distinguished panel.

Themes

The National Seminar titled “New Criminal Laws for a New Era: Need, Focus, and Long-Term Vision” organized by the Into Legal World, would play a crucial role in discussing these reforms, educating legal professionals, law enforcement authorities and the public about the impact of the new laws. Through discussions and presentations, the seminar will help ensure a smooth transition to this modernized legal framework.

The seminar will focus on the following sub themes under three transformative Acts:

  • Necessity or Nuisance? Relevance of India’s New Criminal Laws.
  • Whether the new laws truly decolonized?
  • How have Sedition Provisions evolved in BNS?
  • Evolution of Gender-Neutral laws under New criminal laws.
  • Fundamental Rights: New Dimensions of Protection and Safeguards.
  • Concept of Community Service as Punishment under BNS, 2023- a boon or bane?
  • Can modernized evidence rules fairly address crimes like cyber fraud?
  • Why retain the Marital Rape exception, despite calls for progressive reforms?
  • Do Reforms Risk a Police State and Diminish Judiciary’s Role?
  • Marriage-Related Offenses: How Do Reforms Reimagine Crime?
  • How does the BSA ensures the authenticity and integrity of electronic evidence?
  • Enhanced protection of Victim rights and support mechanisms.
  • What measures are in place to ensure that delays in investigations and trials are minimized under BNSS?
  • Any other relevant issue

Submission Guidelines

Abstract Submission:

  1. File Format: MS Word only.
    • Naming Convention:
      • File name should follow this format: [Author/Co-author Name – Title of Work].
      • Example: “Author, Co-author – Title of Paper.”
  2. Word Limit:   Abstracts must not exceed 250–300 words, including up to 5 keywords.
  3. Formatting:
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Font Size: 12
    • Line Spacing: 1.5
    • Justified Alignment
    • Paper Size: A4
    • Margins: 2.54 cm (all sides).
  4. Cover Page Details:
    • Title of the Paper
    • Name of the Author and Co-author (if any)
    • Designation
    • Affiliation
    • Contact Details (Email ID and Phone Number)
  5. Co-authorship:
    • Limited to a maximum of two authors.

If co-authorship, both the authors must register separately.

Registration Details:

Academicians/ Legal Professionals /Teachers

  • Single Authorship – Rs. 1000
  • Co- Authorship – Rs. 1600

Research Scholars

  • Single Authorship – Rs. 800
  • Co- Authorship – Rs. 1200

Students

  • Single Authorship – Rs. 600
  • Co- Authorship – Rs. 900

Awards and Publication Opportunities

Awards: The Best Paper under each theme and the Best Student Paper Presentation will be recognized with a cash prize and certificate of merit.
