Lords Universal College of Law popularly known as LUC LAW is one of the leading colleges of excellence in the Mumbai Western Suburbs, located at a convenient location at Goregaon West. It is affiliated to University of Mumbai and recognized by the Bar Council of India. LUC LAW is Permanently Unaided and Recognized as Gujarati Linguistic Minority Institution. Lords Universal College of Law has been ranked 4th in India and awarded the Grand Jury Award in Professional Education by Education World India Private Higher Education Ranking 2019 – 2020.

About Lex LOCI

Lex-Loci is a National Level Law Festival organized by Lords Universal College of Law. The objective of this Fest is to provide a platform to the students pursuing law, so as to give them simulated experience in varied areas of the profession. It also incorporates some entertaining elements which are directly or indirectly connected with the legal field with the purpose of keeping up with the spirit of satire and fun. Competitive exposure is assured on a single platform.

Venue

Place – Lords Universal College of Law, Topiwala Marg, off Station Road, Near Hotel Ratna, Goregaon West, Mumbai, Maharashtra-400062.
Date- 15th & 16th February 2025.

Eligibility

Bonafide students pursuing Five- or Three-Years LL. B Degree Course are only eligible. The students must be deputed by their respective colleges.

Moot Court Submission Details

Format of the Memorials

  • The Memorial shall be printed on only one side of A4 size paper, with the following mandatory formatting specifications:
  • 1inch margin on all sides:
  • Times New Roman typeface with 12 font size; and
  • 1.5-line spacing,
  • Citation style: Bluebook edition
  • Teams shall cite authorities in the Memorial using footnotes.
  • Explanatory or illustrative footnotes are not allowed. For footnotes, the formatting specifications are:
  • Times New Roman typeface with 10 font size.
  • Single (1) line spacing.
  • The Memorials shall be spiral bound.
  • The following colour scheme shall be followed for the Cover Page of the Memorials: PETITIONER: BLUE and RESPONDENT: RED (The cover pages are already colour coded in the sample memorial).
  • The Arguments advanced shall not be in more than 20 pages.

PENALTIES

  • Late Submission: 2 points for every 12 hours delay; disqualification after 48 hours.
  • Incorrect filename: 1 point per file.
  • Improper formatting: 1 point for each instance.
  • Improper citations: 2 points.
  • Exceeding page limit in argument advanced: 2 points per page.

EXCHANGE AND RETURN OF MEMORIALS

  • There shall be an exchange of Memorials between the respective opposing Teams in accordance with the rules and regulations of the institution prior to all the rounds of the competition.
  • The Teams are prohibited from making any marks on the exchanged Memorials and must return the Memorials to the administrators after each round.
  • The Draw of Lots & Exchange of Memorial shall be conducted on 14th February 2025.

Structure of the Rounds

  • Top eight (8) teams will qualify from Preliminary Rounds for the Quarter-final Round
  • Top four (4) teams to qualify from Quarter-final Round to the Semi-final Round and
  • Top two (2) teams will qualify from Semi-final Round to the Final Round.
  • The side on which a team will be arguing will be decided by draw of lots.

In case of tie the memorial marks will be considered.

PLEASE NOTE NO SUCH OTHER EVENT HAS ANY SUBMISSIONS ONLY MERE RULES & REGULATIONS ARE TO BE FOLLOWED AS MENTIONED IN THE BROCHURE.

  • Last date of Registration for Moot Court Competition – 1st February 2025
  • Last date of Registration for other events – 15th February 2025
  • Last date of Submission of soft copies of the memorial – 13th February 2025
  • Researchers test – 14th February 2025
