National Law Institute University Bhopal is a public law school and a National Law University located in Bhopal, India. Established in 1997 by the State of Madhya Pradesh, it is the second law school established under the National Law School system.
About the Opportunity
Legal Aid Clinic at National Law Institute University, Bhopal in collaboration with Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys organising 4th NLIU-LAC Paralegal Workshop and Training Programme, which will consist of a Panel Discussion and a Client counselling competition.
Day 1: Panel Discussion
A large part of running a legal aid centre revolves around effectively communicating with clients from various backgrounds which brings us here with our Panel Discussion.
The Panel Discussion will be on the following themes:
- Session 1 – Working of Legal Aid Clinics and their Role in Enhancing Justice to Marginalised Communities.
- Session 2 – Roles and Responsibilities of a Paralegal during Client Interaction while Providing for Legal Assistance.
Note: There is no Registration Fee for participation in the Panel Discussion but it’s mandatory for all the participants to attend the same.
Day 2: Client Counselling Competition
The competition will test the participants’ competence in understanding the facts of cases and their ability to advise clients on the recourses and remedies available, pursuant to approval received from the empanelled advocates.
Only a team of two from the same institution are allowed to participate in this competition.
The competition will have Preliminary and advanced rounds. 8 Teams shall qualify for the Advance Rounds.
The participating teams is supposed to submit a written submission on the problem shared and participate in the oral rounds.
Awards & Perks
- All the participants of the training sessions shall be getting participation certificates. Other recognitions such as the most interactive student, the most interactive university, etc will also be awarded.
- First Position – Rs. 10,000 and Internship opportunity at Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys
- Second Position – Rs. 8,000
- Third Position – Rs. 4,000
- Best Legal Opinions – Rs. 3,500 and Internship opportunity at Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys
