About Vitsol Debate Society
The VIT School of Law’s Debate Society (DebSoc), established in 2018, aims to foster a rule-based debating culture among law students. It introduces various debate formats, including U.S., British, and Asian parliamentary styles, along with socio-legal and political issues. The society organizes internal debate leagues, intramural competitions, and national and international events, providing expert coaching and a platform for students to excel. Additionally, it promotes Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods, training students for related competitions. VITSOL DebSoc has successfully represented the institute in numerous national and international ADR events.
About Vitsol Mediation Competition, 2025
The VITSOL Debate Society of VIT School of Law in association with NLC INDIA LTD presents the VITSOL MEDIATION COMPETITION 2025.
VITSOL DebSoc is proud to present its inaugural Tripartite Mediation Competition, aimed at promoting excellence in conflict resolution. This event provides a platform for participants to showcase their mediation skills, learn from experts, and explore innovative dispute resolution techniques. The competition fosters a deeper understanding of mediation and encourages collaboration, helping to shape the future of the field and develop future leaders in mediation.
Teams and mediators advance based on their scores, with the top participants moving to the next stage. Scouting is prohibited, and participants must maintain professional conduct. No electronic devices are allowed during offline rounds, and participants must be present 20 minutes before the start.
The official language is English, and the dress code is business formal. The organizers have the final authority in case of any contingencies, and all decisions are binding.
Eligibility
The competition is open to all law students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate LL.B courses (5-year or 3-year LL. B) in colleges/universities affiliated with the Bar Council of India.
Registration Fee
A registration fee of Rs.3000/- per negotiating team and Rs.1500/- per mediator must be paid after the confirmation of participation on or before 20th March 2025. The registration fee shall be non-refundable

- Qualifiers & Quarter Finals (Online)- 26th March 2025
- Semifinals & Finals (Offline) – 18th April 2025
Registration Process
- The competition is restricted to 30 Negotiating teams and 20 Mediators.
- However, the hosting institution shall have the discretion to increase the number of negotiating teams and mediators based on registrations.
- Students can register for the competition either as a negotiating team or as a Mediator.
- Multiple teams/mediators can register from the same institution.
- Cross-institution teams: Students from different institutions are not allowed to form a team for the purpose of this competition.
- Negotiating Team Composition: Each team consists of 2 members- one client and one counsel. The students shall not be allowed to change positions after the registration. Registration for the mediator and the negotiating teams shall be Separate. Once registered, they shall not be allowed to change roles throughout the competition.
- Registration Timeline: Each team shall complete the provisional registration by 15th March 2025 by filling the Google form given below. Students can directly register or through the college/university. The confirmation of the participation shall be communicated to the provisionally registered participants on 17th March 2025.
- Finality: The details submitted at the time of provisional registration shall be final. The right to confirmation of the participation is reserved to the organizers of the event.
