About TNNLU

Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of the State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012) to provide quality legal education at the global level. The mission of TNNLU is to impart quality legal education nurtured within a robust culture of interdisciplinary research and teaching in an equitable, respectful, and supportive environment producing legal practitioners and scholars who will be committed to justice, social transformation, and national development.

The vision of TNNLU is to achieve global recognition as an institution of eminence and excellence in all spheres of legal education, rooted in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of law, such that the graduates of TNNLU will be independent, critical thinkers and socially responsible human beings.

About Trial Advocacy Committee

TNNLU’s Trial Advocacy Committee (“TAC”) was established in 2019, out of the hope of making students more invested in and knowledgeable about criminal law and the complex procedures involved in criminal trials.

The committee’s strong dedication to its goals is shown in the diverse range of activities it has organized in the past and the aim of continuing to do so in the future. The Intra-University Trial Advocacy Competitions are at the heart of these efforts, giving students a chance to demonstrate their proficiency in the art of legal reasoning and strategic articulation. Alongside these competitions, the committee also holds workshops at which legal experts share their practical knowledge of trial dynamics with students, helping them make the transition from theory to practice. The committee also conducts Inter-University competitions to enable other colleges and universities to participate and expose themselves to the art of trial advocacy.

Details of the Event

The 2nd National Tamil Trial Advocacy Competition, 2024 (“2nd NTTAC, 2024”) is TNNLU’s flagship event, building on the success of its first edition. Dedicated to empowering Tamil-speaking law students in criminal law litigation within Tamil Nadu’s legal domain, the competition is conducted entirely in Tamil. It aims to enhance students’ command of the Tamil legal language and develop intricate skills for future litigation.

The competition provides a platform for law students, especially those from Tamil medium backgrounds, to showcase their advocacy skills and gain hands-on exposure to criminal proceedings. As the pioneering institution, TNNLU leads by organizing the first Trial Advocacy Competition in Tamil Nadu entirely in Tamil, inspiring aspiring law students in the state.
