Abstract of the Lecture
In the webinar, the focus is on India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) and its critical shortcomings regarding AI and publicly available data. The Act’s failure to differentiate such data enables AI tools to covertly gather and process information without explicit consent, posing severe privacy risks. Obtaining informed consent within AI remains challenging due to user unawareness. The discussion navigates the challenges entwined within the DPDP Act, identifying the lacunas in effectively regulating AI’s data processing and collection.
