About Project Saksham
Project Saksham 3.0 is a legal literacy and aid initiative founded by alumni of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Building on the legacy of Saksham 1.0 and 2.0, the project provides free legal assistance, educational outreach, and medical help to marginalized communities including women, children, labourers, senior citizens, the LGBTQ+ community, and sex workers.
With the backing of the NEK Mission Foundation, Project Saksham envisions a society where justice and empowerment reach every individual.
About the Moot Court Competition
- Dates: 9th – 11th May 2025
- Mode: Online
- Theme: “The Constitution, Crypto, and the Chains of Compliance – A PMLA Conundrum”
- Total Prizes Worth: ₹1,50,000
The competition aims to explore the complex intersection of constitutional law and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), especially in the context of emerging digital financial systems like cryptocurrency.
Moot Proposition
Participants will argue before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Indica in a fictional dispute involving:
- Application of PMLA on AI-driven crypto trading.
- Alleged bias in enforcement actions.
- Jurisdiction issues with DeFi platforms.
- Retrospective application of constitutional judgments.
Legal Issues Include
- Violation of fundamental rights under Articles 14, 19, and 21.
- Arbitrary use of PMLA against high-profile individual.
- Definition of cryptocurrency under “proceeds of crime”.
- Jurisdictional reach of Indian laws over global blockchain transactions.
Eligibility
- Open to students pursuing 3-year or 5-year LLB courses across India.
Team Composition
- 3 members per team (2 speakers + 1 researcher).
