About Law College Dehradun
Law College Dehradun has splendidly contributed to legal education in the country since its inception and inauguration by His Excellency Shri Surjeet Singh Barnala, the then Governor of Uttarakhand in 2002. It has set a paradigm for legal education in the nation by offering innovative, research-driven discourses that are aimed at striking a balance between legal theory and practice.

About Article Writing Competition
This Article writing competition will allow the students to enhance their skills in a fun and easy way through research. Indigenous communities face significant legal challenges in safeguarding their rights to traditional lands, forests, and natural resources.
Despite constitutional safeguards and international commitments, indigenous rights often conflict with economic development and environmental conservation initiatives. The competition aims to develop interest among students to explore and analyze legal issues, especially related to environmental law. It will provide a platform for students to remember and learn new facts related to the environment and its relevance to the ecosystems at large.
Eligibility
- All the students of registered Higher educational institutions (HEI), colleges and Universities are eligible
- Co-authorship is allowed.

General Guidelines
Eligibility Criteria
Law students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), management students, economics students, other undergraduate students, research scholars from any recognized college/university and higher secondary students of the country are eligible to participate.
Guidelines
- The participants have to submit their article on or before 25th September by emailing it to lcdvtgs@uumail.in
- The subject should read the Submission of the entry: “Indigenous Rights and Environmental Protection: Legal Challenges in Safeguarding India’s Nativity” Article Writing Competition.
- The electronic copies must be submitted in pdf format. In case two emails are sent by the participant, the copy of the draft sent last will be considered for evaluation.
- No submission shall be accepted after 23:59 hours on September 25h 2024.
- The font should be Times New Roman, Size 12, and line spacing should be 1.5.
- In the article 10 per cent plague is allowed for the participants.
- Word limit should be 800-1500 words.

All registered participants will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.

- No late submissions will be accepted.
